Moisture Mapping and Detection Methods
Moisture mapping is the process of identifying and locating areas of excess moisture within a structure. This is typically done using specialized equipment that can detect and measure moisture levels. Moisture mapping can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

How Does Moisture Mapping Work?

A moisture meter is a handheld device that measures the electrical resistance of a material. When a moisture meter is placed on a surface, it sends a small electrical current through the material. The amount of current that flows through the material is inversely proportional to the moisture content. This means that a higher moisture content will result in a lower electrical resistance.
By measuring the electrical resistance, a moisture meter can determine the moisture content of a material. Moisture meters can be used to measure the moisture content of a variety of materials, including wood, drywall, concrete, and carpet.
In addition to moisture meters, there are a number of other tools that can be used for moisture mapping, including:
- Thermal imaging cameras
- Infrared cameras
- Ground-penetrating radar
These tools can provide a more detailed picture of the moisture distribution within a structure.
